I'm in the process of building a Ford High Pinion Dana 60 front axle. I have purchased a set of 15 inch rims and tires. Normally people would grind material off the 1 ton calipers so that the 15 inch rims would fit. I decided to go a different route.

I spent some time on the internet and in the shed last night. I measured all the parts on the front end of the truck. I managed to figure out that a bracket can be fabricated for cheap to allow the use of the Chevy K20 calipers, pads and rotors. This setup will fit inside of the 15 inch rims without grinding them for clearance.

The idea of grinding the caliper has mixed opinions. Some say it's ok whil eothers say you weaken to caliper too much. Either way.....my option gives me enough clearance and cheaper brake parts.

I will post some pictures when I have all the parts.

Cheers,

Monk

Interested in this mod Monk. I picked up a 60 recently and have 15" rims to go with. I also have been reading on the interweb of those who have ground their dana60 calipers. I haven't read about anyone who has screwed one up yet but i am interested in this because I agree with you on the cheap brake parts. Any updated pics or sketches?

Yes there are updates. I have the parts designed and ready to go out for fabrication. I should have them in hand by the end of the week.

I will let you know how it works out.

I have the parts back from the Machine shop. I picked up my rotors and calipers yesterday. I hope to mock it all together tonight and post some pictures.

At this point in time I only have a design for the Ford D60. The Chevy D60 is different but the same principles would apply.

Pictures below show the bracket and caliper all mounted. I'm going to pick up the studs for my high steer arms and put the outers on my front axle tonight. I'll get a fully assembled picture posted soon.
